Woodlands for Wildlife

The Minnesota Forest Resource Council, in partnership with local Soil and Water Conservation Districts, is hosting a free Landowner Workshop to help property owners learn more about managing their private forests for wildlife. The workshop will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Walker Area Community Center (105 Tower Ave, Walker, MN) from 9 am to 12:30 pm.
The event will be broken down into three 45 minute sessions:

  1. Technical and Financial Resources for Property Owners: Information from NRCS, DNR, and Soil and Water Districts.
  2. Woodland Management Strategies for Wildlife: Focus on deer and grouse, presented by MN DNR and Ruffed Grouse Society Forest Wildlife Specialists.
  3. Improving Forest Health: Presented by a MN DNR Forest Health Specialist.
There will be free coffee and donuts to start the morning, and a free BBQ lunch at noon.
